Thursday Night Stream: Colored Typewriter Ribbons, A Couple Of New Pens, A Travel Desk Lamp and More

I finally got some colored typewriter ribbons in, so I will talk and show how those look, as well as talking about a couple of new pens, and showing a new desk light that I found from Kirk Speer at the Atlanta Pen Show. I will also talk about an upcoming road trip where I will be looking for stationery stops along the way.

Hexagonal Fountain Pens | Rotring Newton, TWSBI Precision and and Caran d’Ache 849 Compared

The Rotring fountain pen is a classic, and there have been some other hexagon body pens that have come along trying to fill that gap. Today I am looking at one of the originals in the Rotring Newton Lava compared the the Caran D’Ache 849 and the TWSBI Precision. All three of these are fitted with an EF nib, so it is down to my thoughts on how they write and feel in the hand when using them. They each are quite different in terms of construction,weight or pricepoint, but all three are great writers.

I Got Out of Hand at the Atlanta Pen Show

I am back from the Atlanta Pen Show for 2026, and well I might have gotten a little out of hand. I ended up with 6 different pens, a couple of storage options, some ink, cases, postcards and more, so follow along as I show the entirety of what came home with me.

The show was a great time to hang out with other pen people, attend classes, or get some nibs ground. It was great to finally get to meet some people who I interact with online in person as well. I will definitely be going back next year.
