Every Pencil in the New Blackwing LOTR Set!

Not long ago I picked up my first Blackwing pencils and have already become quite a fan, so the fact that a Lord of The Rings blackwing special edition came out right after, well I guess it was meant to be. I have been a fan of the films since seeing them all on their release nights, so this was an easy decision to pick up this set.
These pencils all represent the rings that were made in the J.R.R Tolkien series of 3 for the elves, 7 for the dwarf lords, and 9 for men, as well as the most well known of all of the rings, the One Ring.
Blackwing did a wonderful job of putting together a set that showcases all of these rings, as each pencil has unique art on it, and the packaging is also really well done featuring licensed artwork and gold embossing that really helps to complete the package.
All 4 of the Blackwing lead types are represented in the pencils, and they even went to far to match the lead type to the lore of the races who received the rings, which I thought was a great little easter egg of a decision.
The set comes with 20 pencils, a gold long point sharpener, and a gold lead protector for to match the One Pencil.

I Bought Every Blackwing Pencil So You Don't Have To

Not long ago, I got a box of Blackwing pencils in a mystery box, and that has led me to buying a box of each of the 4 main Blackwing lead types to put them to the test. In this video, I test a Blackwing Matte, Blackwing Pearl, Blackwing 602, and a Blackwing Natural. I pair these with the Blackwing long reach sharpener and protect the sharpened pencils with the Blackwing point covers. Is this overkill, probably, but Blackwing has such a reputation, I felt like it was a risk worth taking, and after trying each of these out, I was not disappointed.
I test these pencils out on Midori MD and Canopus papers, as well as a Notsu index card.

Did I Get Lucky? Gentleman Stationer Mystery Boxes!

The Gentleman Stationer released another round of curated boxes, and I took the risk and got two of the different levels at the same time. I got the pencil centric $50 dollar box as well as the $100 dollar box as well. I am very pleased with what I got between the two boxes, and I continue to enjoy the curated nature of the boxes that are offered by Joe at The Gentleman Stationer.
The pencil box included some things like Field Notes or Rite in the Rain that I see all of the time, but don't reach for due to them not being great for fountain pens, so viewing them from the pencil angle give a new perspective. The HMM mechanical pencil is different, and then between the Uni wood case in the pencil box alongside the Blackwing Pencils and Blackwing Hovel sharpener, I feel like I need to spend some more time exploring the world of the wood case pencils coming forward.

I Tracked Down The Zento Signature Special Edition Only To Swap To A New Ink

So I was lucky enough to track down a Zento Signature in the .5mm last year, but here we are a year later, and I ended up finding one of the special edition stone and bronze colorway, and I figured now was a great time to try something I was thinking about for a while. I ordered a Uniball One refill in .38 blue/black to go immediately into this new pen. The zento refill has been fine, but I have heard that the One refill makes this great pen body even better, so it was time to put it to the test.
