Ap as The Scarecrow

This weekend, I was wanting to practice shooting with my small hotshoe flashes, so I put out a call for people to come over and hang out, and we could shoot some pictures. Ap brought his scarecrow with him, and as it turned out, the lot behind my house was covered in straw to prevent it from turning into a mud pit as they are clearing the area to build new houses. This was the perfect opportunity for that costume. I ended up using 4 speedlights, and I was very pleased with the results, as I got the results that I wanted in camera, and really didn’t have to do much editing at all. Here are some samples.

MTAC Black Rock Shooter Cosplay

I have finally had a chance to get some new pictures posted from MTAC. I still have some pictures from MTAC to get to which were not ones that I submitted to the con as official photographs, specifically some shots of the Black Rock Shooter group that a few of my friends did for the show. MTAC is always a fun show, and even with it being on Easter weekend this year, it seemed to be very well attended and I had a great time shooting it.

ConNooga 2011

This past weekend was ConNooga which is held in Chattanooga, TN. I was on the photo staff for the convention, so I shot quite a bit, and had a great time. The two main events that I shot were the Music City Burlesque performance, and then the Leather and Lace fashion show. I can’t post pictures from either of these events yet, as both groups asked that they be able to view the images before they were posted anywhere. Once I hear back, I will post a few selected shots of both events.

I am working on getting the other images posted online, as I totaled right at 2000 images for the weekend which I am weeding down. I expect to have some pictures up here soon. I did learn a bit of a lesson while shooting the con. The burlesque and fashion show were back to back, so between 4 burlesque dancers with a couple of songs each, and about 10 ladies doing the fashion show, each with 5 outfits, I was shooting non stop for about 3 hours. My arms felt a little bit like jelly in the end, but I am happy with the shots I was able to take.

This was only my second time at ConNooga, and my first time shooting staff, but I will definitely be doing it again next year if they will have me back.

Lack of updates

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I have been spending most of my time either cutting, oiling or dyeing leather. I am currently in the process of making 4 of the Resident Evil Afterlife holster rigs like I made for Jen for Dragon*Con. This has been a fun project, but it is fairly time intensive, but the benefits are worth it. I hope to get to more regular updates again towards the end of the month.

Dragon*Con 2010 Friday

Friday was a mixture of roaming around the con, and then doing some lighting setups for head shots at the Ladies of Gotham shoot which led to shooting the Ironman group that evening. I shot individual shots, and Chase ended up shooting the big group shots.

Dragon*Con 2010 Thursday

Well Dragon*Con is over and I am finally able to start getting some pictures posted. I had a great time at the con this year, and don’t really have any complaints that the con can control aka drunken football fans starting fights and stealing badges etc. We had a good year on our coverage with Geeks of Doom and look forward to covering it again next year.

Most of Thursday night was spent in the Marriott shooting back to back with Chase of Chasing Photography where we had big lights setup just to play around with some lighting setups.
