Quick Dragon*Con Update

Well I am at dragon*con and having a great time. There have been some great costumes this year and I think that I have been able to get some pretty decent shots. I don’t have a good net connection here, so I will be getting most of my pictures posted starting on Tuesday evening. Dragon*Con Prep Begins

Well we are at 37 days until Dragon*Con, and I have been trying to narrow down plans for what I want to try and shoot while at the con. I should be shooting for Geeks of Doom again this year, so once the final schedule is out, that will determine what panels etc need to be shot, so that leaves the various group shoots to sort through.

As of now I plan to go to the Ladies of DC photoshoot on Friday evening, and then the slave Leia shoot on Saturday. Other than that, I am pretty much undecided about what other shoots to attend. Any shoots that you suggest are can’t miss?

MTAC This Weekend

I already wrote this over on the Conphotog site, but I will be shooting staff for MTAC this weekend. I am ready for a con fix, and ready to take some pictures. I will try to update from my iPhone throughout the weekend on Flickr which cross posts here and to twitter.

I have decided that I want to start keeping my convention photography on its own URL, so ConPhotog.net was created. I will slowly be adding my backlog on con pics to the new site, and will then just post links here from that site when new conventions pictures are added.

The site just went up today, so it needs quite a bit of tweaking, but I just wanted to get the URL posted.

ConNooga 2010

This last weekend was my first time to attend ConNooga which was held at the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. I didn’t really attend much of the programming, but it was great to have a weekend away hanging out my friends. I was able to get some decent long exposure shots of Jess hooping in her gaga disco bra with her new LED hoop. I really like how they turned out.

MTAC ConKitty Audition Photos

Chattacon 2010

This last weekend was the first convention of the year that I attended, Chattacon in Chattanooga, TN. I worked for part of the con at the beer booth, and also had a photographer badge, even though I didn’t snap that many shots over the weekend. This con is always a great time, and a good chance to catch up with people that you haven’t seen since Dragon*Con in many cases.

They had the band Arc Attack there and i was able to get some decent shots of their show that is conducted using singing Tesla coils.

GMX

As mentioned before, GMX was this weekend, and it was a great time. Everything was planned well, and the staff did a great job. It really didn’t seem like it was a first year convention. They announced at the closing ceremonies that they are going to look into doing it again, so that is good to know, as most everyone there that I talked to said it was one of the new favorite smaller cons that they have attended.

The photo backdrop was well received, and we even ended up shooting some shots for the convention of the GMX girls which they will use for their website and publicity etc. I hope to get the pictures posted within a reasonable amount of time, but I do have over 960 from the weekend to go through. I plan to post smaller versions on the site here, and then put full res versions on flickr if anyone needs a larger format of the images.

GMX or Bust

Well this afternoon I am headed to the first year of the GMX or the Geek Media Expo. This is put on by the same people who run MTAC. There are still at the door registrations available, so if you are in Nashville, you should come and check it out.

We will have the photo backdrop setup tomorrow, so if you come, make sure you stop by and say hi and get some pictures taken in your costume.
