I feel violated

I was made aware today on a forum that I am on, that the Memphis Commerical appeal has decided that they need to publish their own database of handgun carry permit holders, along with their city, state, zipcode, birthday, and apparently up until recently, street name. It is true that these are indeed public records, but only do to the actions of former speaker Jimmy Naifeh. Most any 2nd ammendment related bill never even made it to a vote in TN. They were pretty much all killed in commitee. Thanks to this, now some of the most law abiding citizens in the state of Tennessee have their private information available from a search form. With the trend of identity theft these days, this is very troubling to me.

This is just a prime example of how partisan government is a bad thing. In this case though, the law abiding citizens of TN have decided to do their part to quell this abomination. I encourage everyone to use some of the following information to contact the involved parties to get this removed. Even if you do not live in TN, I encourage you to contact these parties as well. It is just a matter of time before this could happen in your state as well.

Take some time and fire up the word processor and grab your roll of stamps and send them letters at home. It is too easy for them to be overlooked when sent to a company address.

Things are getting scary around here

Apparently I don’t live in the area of town that I thought that I did. Last week someone was shot at the Roma pizza that is less than half a mile from my house for 3 dollars, and they died in the hospital today.

Last night, the game stop in that same shopping center was held up at gunpoint.

There was a shooting across the street from Belmont last night as well.

It is very unnerving that all of these instances are happening this close to my house. The worst part is that I go to that game stop and Roma on occasion. All of this really goes to show that you should not let your guard down whereever you live.

Tomorrow is 1 week

Well tomorrow is one week from when I filed my paperwork. I am going to get very impatient by the time my permit arrives in the mail. I really just want to start carrying now, but I don’t want to get in trouble. I do wear it around my house to get used to carrying it, but it is hard to remember that I am not allowed to go out in public with my gun on. I have been reading how long some people have had to wait on a Tennessee CCL forum, and the average wait time is about 5 weeks. I am hoping that since I am in Nashville, it will be on the low side of the spectrum, but I guess that is to be seen.

I did go out to the range on Saturday and put about 200 rounds into paper. I am really getting to the point of shooting very consistently. I do tend to shoot a little low and to the left of where I am aiming, but I do so regularly. I either need to change my stance some, or just aim a touch high and to the right.

I should be picking up my Glock 27 on Friday. I am really looking forward to giving it some range time. It is a sub compact, so it will take some getting used to.

I am at Portland Brew right now, and it is crowded with very loud people. Not exactly my idea of a nice evening at the coffee shop. Well so far none of my crew has arrived yet, so I guess it is back to surfing the net.

My holster arrived today

My holster came today. I am wearing it around the house to get used to it, and it is more comfortable then I thought that it would be. I will try to snap some pictures and post them in the next little bit.

All done

Well all of my paperwork has been filed, fingerprints taken, and money paid. Now all that I have to do is wait for 3 – 5 weeks or so and check the mailbox with vigor.
