These are photos from a trip that I took to Reelfoot lake in February of 2011 in search of some photos of the migrating bald eagles that come to the area yearly between December and March. It turns out that I was a little too late to get many of the migrating birds, but I was able to get pictures of some of the eagles that nest at the lake year round. I rented a Canon 500 f/4 IS L USM with a 1.4 TC III for the trip giving me a 700mm range before factoring in the APS-C sensor in the Canon 7D. I am already planning to go again next year, and I will be taking either a 600mm or 800mm lens next time, as there were many times that I could have used that extra range.
