About

dwrd.net was started on Jan 1, 2000. I was working overnight at a call center waiting for all of our computers to melt due to Y2K and had to have some way to pass the time. The site started as a E/N (Entertainment/news) style site, and with occasional pictures posts once I got my first digital camera. During college the site progresses to more of a party site where pictures were taken at parties and various activities and posted. There seemed to be somewhat of a following at that time, as people would come up to me and ask if I was the guy with the website. That is still weird to me today. At one time I had 7 different people who posted on the site and added their own pictures and stories etc.

As time progressed, and upon leaving college, the site was neglected for quite some time and became static. I mainly used the site then for the photo gallery. Eventually my webhost went belly up, and I lost my archived postings from when the site was formed until around 2004. Most writing at this time was done via Livejournal and pictures just linked there from the site.

Once I had some more time, I realized that I should be utilizing my hosting better than I was, so I went to wordpress as my content system and did an import of all of the old Livejournal postings which is where the site is currently at today. I still cross post to Livejournal via wordpress, as there are friends with whom I still use Livejournal to keep in touch with.

Photography
I started getting more serious about photography in March of 2009 when I purchased my first digital SLR camera. I have slowly been adding gear and trying to shoot a variety of picture styles. As a costumer, it has been natural to shoot what I know and I have started shooting at conventions whenever possible. I enjoy making costumes, but I have also noticed that many costumers never get a chance to get a good pictures taken of their work due to not carrying cameras around with them. I have found that it helps being familiar with the characters helps in asking the costumers how to pose.

I have had pictures used for GeeksofDoom.com and I am the photographer for Summer of Shuttergirls.com.
