I am Derek DeWeese and, Dwrd Studios is the online home for my creative outlets. I am a photographer, leatherworker, costumer, and prop maker. I live in Brentwood, TN. I attend conventions regularly and have been a staff photographer for Chattacon, ConNooga, MTAC, GMX, and in the past I have done Dragon*Con coverage for GeeksofDoom.com.
I started shooting with a Kodak disk camera that I got as a kid, and the photo bug stayed with me. I took some photo classes in high school, and have been shooting on and off since then. Once I got my first digital camera in 2000, I found my love for photography again, and have been shooting on a regular basis since then.
I do leatherwork, and accept commissions for custom pieces, specifically holsters and movie replica pieces. Please check out my leatherwork page for more information about projects that I have completed and how to inquire about a commission.
I have been costume and prop making since 2005. I am a member of the 501st Legion, The Rebel Legion, and the Colonial Fleet costuming groups. For more information about my costume and prop builds, please check out my costume page.
I have been asked often what dwrd stands for, and simply, it is my initials. I also get asked how it is pronounced, and whereas, I normally just spell out the letters, quite a few people have taken to pronouncing it as “dwerd” which is fine by me.
