About two weeks ago I did something that I never thought that I would be able to do. I stopped drinking soft drinks and switched to drinking water. This is a big deal for me, as I was drinking quite a few soft drinks per day. The harder part of this was I stopped drinking them the day before I left to go to MidsouthCon. Conventions aren’t exactly known for having the best food options for food and drinks etc, but I was able to make it through. Speaking of, I plan to go through my MidSouthCon pictures over this weekend and hope to get them posted soon.
In stopping soda, I have started drinking plain black coffee in order to get some caffeine in my system. I realized very quickly that I was going to have an issue with this, as the regular coffee at work, is not what I call good in any way. I have some coworkers who bring their own brew and make it each day, and that is better, but still not exactly what I can get accustomed to. I decided to venture into the world of the French Press, and after the second attempt, I made something that is acceptable. I just realized that I chooses a bean that I am not very fond of, so choosing a bean roast that I like will be the bigger adventure.
Another big change is that I went to an optometrist for the first time in about 15 years, and it turns out what I thought was my eyes being tired at times, is actually that my eyes have not been working together, and that is what is causing some issues when I am reading, and when driving at night. Therefore, I soon will be wearing glasses. They are not a very strong prescription, but I think that it will be interesting getting used to using my camera while wearing them. My optometrist told me that if they bother me while shooting, that each eye independently is working fine, so I should be able to not wear them when taking pictures if it becomes an issue.
I do have some shoots coming up. This next weekend I am heading to Knoxville to shoot a burlesque troupe at my friend’s Tiki bar. This should be quite a fun and interesting experience. There is also MTAC coming up soon as well where I will be shooting as a staff photographer again. MTAC is in town and is always a fun event to attend and shoot. I am looking forward to shooting the rave again more than anything else. Other than that, now that Spring is here, I hope to get out and do quite a bit more shooting in.
