Well Dragon*Con is less than 40 days away. I finally got around to ordering what I need for my one new costume this year. I am not going for anything elaborate, but I did opt to get all of the screen accurate brand variations to make my costume as correct as possible. I am making a Dharma Initiative jumpsuit. I have decided to have mine read either Photographer or Historian, as I will probably be doing that more picture taking than costuming this year. I won’t be able to get everything assembled until I am back from round two of being in Albuquerque, but all that will be left is to get my embroidery done and sew on my patch. I am looking forward to the fact that this will be like my BSG jumpsuit, in that it is one of the most comfortable costumes that exists. The other costumes I am taking this year are my BSG Deck suit, BSG Marine, possibly my Resident Evil Centurion, and if I get it finished, my Green BSG BDUs. Add in my kilts, and a few T-shirts and I will be set for the duration of the con.
I will be taking pictures for some of Tom’s articles for GeeksofDoom.com which should be pretty cool as well. Overall, I am mainly ready for a vacation and a chance to get to hang out with the friends and fellow geeks that I normally only get to see once a year.

I went to Radnor lake today to try out my new camera lens, and I was able to get some shots of a pair of barred owls.

On the day I got back from ABQ, I went to the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere with my sister and nephew who were in town that day. Here are a few pictures.

Well it has been one week as of this afternoon. Last Thursday I traded in Scarlett for a 2006 Jeep Commander 4×4 Limited. Scarlett was at the point where it would cost more to repair all of the stuff that was wrong with it then what it was worth, so it was just one of those things where it needed to be done. Granted I was close to having it paid off, but at the same time, I would be dumping money into a car that, with its past history, would have something else break on it right after the repairs were made. The straw that made the turn is that it did not pass emissions last Monday, and I couldn’t drive around on expired plates.
I have named the new jeep Alice, from Resident Evil, as this will end up being my zombie vehicle. It has the proper engine for such a need as it is a 5.7 V8 HEMI. It is a 4×4, and after a year or so should have a proper brush/zombie guard in the front of it and possibly tires more suited to running over obstacles. She is Khaki pearlcoat and is in great condition. She is also a certified pre-owned jeep which comes with extra warranties as I do not want to run into the hell I did with Scarlett.
I haven’t had a chance to take some good pictures of her yet, but here is one that I took with my phone of the outside, and of the engine compartment, which happens to be one of the cleanest engine compartments that I have seen.
