Finally back to normal…I think

Well it seems that by taking all of the medicine I was told to, and being a quasi hobbit for a while, I am finally well for the most part. I still can’t hear fully, but the cough and runny nose are gone. I am not going to lie, I hate being sick, and am glad that this seems to be gone. I ended up having to use 3 days of PTO because of it, and I hate using PTO when I am not having a good time. Add to that, having to miss Chattacon and this whole experience has been very unpleasant.

In other new, I just used probably half a pens worth of ink signing all of my loan paperwork. My closing date is set for March 18th, so the big help Derek move extravaganza will be March 28-29. I am planning on making many trips with small stuff before then, but that will be the weekend for the big furniture etc. Please add this to your calendars. I know that I have helped most everyone I know in Nashville move at least once, so now is the time to return the favor.

LOST is simply LOST. That is about all that I have to say about that.

I am trying to learn some XML scripting, and I have to say it is one of the most boring topics to read ever. If anyone has any suggestions of learning resources, please pass them along.

Leverage, LOST, and xBox

After finishing up Dexter, I needed something to watch, so I started watching Leverage. I had heard Stephen from granades.com and of Whatthecast mention this on one of the podcast episodes, and I have to agree with his view that this is a great show. There is just something about con artists who con other con artists. It is very Dexteresque in that the main character only targets like minded targets. I am four episodes in so far, and I can’t believe how quickly the hour passes. I have the other 4 episodes downloaded, and hope to get them finished soon.

Last night was the long awaited 2 hour LOST premiere. Once again, there were many IMs, texts and tweets to people that mainly consisted of the letters W, T and F. I am interested to see where the the show is headed and will eagerly look forward to each Wednesday night for the foreseeable future.

About a year ago, my buddy told me about the program called Connect360. This “tricks” the xbox into thinking that a mac is a pc which allows for content to be streamed to the xbox. The other day, I finally took the time to update my software, and try it out for videos on my xbox, since the xbox can now handle divx movies. Needless to say, I am in love. This is what saved me over this week while I was under a pile of blankets on the couch. Being able to watch downloaded programs on my 56″ tv vs my 15″ laptop was a blessing. If you have a mac and a 360, then check out this software. it was well worth the 20 bucks.

I had another friend call me this afternoon offering me a pass to go and see the new Underworld screener tonight. I am excited. Granted it isn’t Kate Beckinsale, but the main actress did a good job in Doomsday, so I am hopeful. I will post my thoughts on it either later on tonight, or tomorrow.

Back to Work, but not completely healed

Well I am back at work today. I woke up feeling ok, but as the day has progressed, my cough is starting to return. I still have a few days of taking these meds left, so hopefully they will continue to rid me of the plague. I am no longer taking tomorrow off as I had scheduled back in November. I don’t want to burn another day, and normally Fridays are pretty slow.

Now that I am not going to Chattacon, I have come to the odd realization, that I have no plans for the weekend whatsoever. There is a sale at the HD dealer, so I might go see if there is anything that I can snag at a good deal, but other than that, I will probably spend it at home, fighting off the remains of the funk.  There is a HOG event on Saturday night at a restaurant downtown, and as fun as it would be, I hate having to park downtown, especially on a weekend, so I might just have to sit this one out.

Dexter

Well I just finished up Dexter Season 2, and I have to say, I really dig this show. I am starting season 3 now. I like the way how everything is intertwined, but not in an obvious way like some shows tend to do it. I am interested to see what the direction and main theme of season 3 will be.

Wordpress

With LJ recently laying off some of their staff, I, like many others, realized that I should probably back up my LJ, while at the same time looked for other options of keeping up these ramblings in the future. I decided that it was time to use my domain for more than my photo gallery and setup wordpress on it. I found a nice little tool that will crosspost to LJ as well, so that way I can still post to LJ as well.

I still have quite a bit to do to make the blog site have a look that I like, but that will come with time. I need to revamp my main domain site as well.
