Well I was motivated and found a flashy BSG moodtheme. I am also trying out the iPhone posting app that posted about the other day. So far it seems pretty cool, but I will need to test it some more.
**EDIT** apparently you can’t link to another user using lj code when using the application. Hopefully they fix that is post.
Ok here is the readers digest update.
I still love the iphone. I am addicted to this technological gem. It really changes the way that you can stay in touch with people compared to the phone that I had before. I really do txt much more with it too. I used over 4600 texts the first month. Thank goodness I chose the unlimited plan, or my bill would have screwed me.
I am having a house built in Brentwood that should be finished in March or April. The association fee for the condo is getting outrageous, so I had started looking for a house. I found a couple of things, but nothing was really exactly what I was looking for. I looked into having a house built, and this turned out to be a much better option. A new house for the same price as some that needed work. It is in Brentwood on Nolensville, South of Old Hickory. It will be great come time for the Ren Faire, as it is much closer to the faire site. My house will be a great staging area for people to meet up etc.
I went to Dragon*Con and had a blast with the fleet. This year I decided not to make a new costume for D*con. I wanted to go with a different approach. This year I just went to have a good time. I went stocked with booze, and instead of trying to get around to all different groups, I just stuck with doing activities with one group. The fleet really knows how to party, and I did my part to advance that fact. I got to meet most all of the BSG celebs, and party with them. My sleeping times at D*con really tell the story. Thursday night, 4:30, Friday 4:30 Saturday 6:30, Sunday 5:30. Next year will just be advanced to the next level of partying. So Say We All.
I traded my 1911 for a Sig 229. I decided that I should really consolidate calibers, as it makes it easier to keep a nice supply of ammunition. I was able to trade my 1911 for a great deal on a brand new Sig 229R in .40. It shoots like a dream, and I find myself carrying it more than my Glock lately.
I had my 10 year HS reunion. This was odd. It was my first time back to Texas in a few years, and the area that I grew up in has really changed. What used to be fields at the back edge of my subdivision was now a quasi strip mall of grocery stores, and fast food restaurants. It was just very odd to see that. As for the reunion, most of the people that I would have liked to be able to catch up with, were not there. It was fun, and I am glad that I went, but it wasn’t what I thought that it would be.
My parents house in Houston, avoided major damage, but I spoke to them this morning, and they did have water get in half of the house from what they can see now. The fridge defrosted, and filled the kitchen with water. They can’t check anything else yet, as there is still no power there, and it is only 6:00 there and not enough light to really see inside the house. There is a huge tree limb where my dad normally parks his jeep. They had moved it somewhere else while they were gone, that turned out to me a smart decision. I heard from my mom that they were able to get the water cleaned up, and most of the tree remnants off of the yard, but they are hearing it could be 3-4 weeks before they get power back. I am not sure how they are going to have school without power, but I guess that will be figured out. My parents have a generator, to they will have some power, but not the whole house. Honestly, I see them going back to Atlanta until the power is returned, assuming they can get a neighbor to turn the generator on every couple of days so that the deep freezers don’t go bad.
On another note, for all of the new people on my friends list, welcome. There are many of fleet people here now, and that makes me happy in a geeky way. Speaking of, I really need a BSG mood theme. 300 was sooo last year.
I haven’t updated in a while. I will write a real update later, but here are the cliff notes.
