Well this past weekend was MTAC 2008. It was a great time and I was able to finish my Ganju costume in time. Steve had his Aizen, Gena Supergirl, Maria finished her Zelda, which was totally kick ass, Essay had Riku and Rose Tyler, Joe had Teen Titans Robin and Danielle had Raven.
It was a fun weekend. I went on Friday to help Chris Lee with his vac form panel by filming it for him, so I got a presenter badge. I got to hang out with throughout the weekend as well which was cool.
On Saturday night I did go to the rave. It was running late, so some of the others didn’t get a chance to stay, but I had a great time. They did end the rave 3 hours early. Word is that some young one OD’ed on something, and that made the police cause wank at the con, which added to the rave running late etc. From what I heard, the girl who OD’d had been sitting next to us asleep on a chair right next to where we had been sitting waiting for the rave for some time. Crazy stuff.
My pictures can be seen here, as I didn’t add them to my gallery yet.

In the close to a month that I have had Quinn, I have put around 700 miles on her so far. I am almost at my first servicing, and then I will be able to ride at speed. I have had to stay around 55 to 60 mph for the inital engine break in period.
I joined the Music City Harley Owners group, or HOG chapter. They do a couple of rides a week and it is a good group of people. I am the token young guy, but it is nice to have people to ride with and find out nice rides from etc.
MTAC is this weekend. I have lots of work to do in order to have Ganju ready, but I think I will get it finished. Granted I need to make a sword/sheath, another shirt, dye the first shirt, make the utility pouch that goes above the sword, make a head wrap, make a sash, make bracers, and finish sewing the swirley things on the pants, but that isn’t too much.
LOST tomorrow night, and BSG Friday night. Speaking of BSG, WTF!?!?!?!?!?!

I have come to the realization that I really should stop caring getting involved with groups that pertain to my hobbies. I put forth effort to care for the success of groups in which I am involved, and more often than not, that ends up coming to kick me in the ass. The perfect example of this is the super hero costume group that we have been trying to form locally. There were 5 people chosen from the group who worked a couple of hours a week for 6 months to come up with a governing document after the first attempt of saying you will be this officer, do what you want with it didn’t work. Members of the group didn’t really see that we were working and this lead to people bitching that we weren’t doing anything. Due to this perception, other members just wanted to steam roll through different aspects and that ended up causing dissension in the ranks so to speak.
Elapse to now that it is time for elections, and all of this is blowing up. Myself and one other member of the group often offer a point of view that is opposite of the majority, and because of that fact, we are viewed as trouble makers, and people who are just trying to cause conflict. This has really been wearing on me really badly. I am going to stand up for what I believe and not cave in to the majority, and due to that, it is causing me to get stressed out to a level that I haven’t reached in quite some time. I am at a point where I don’t even want to hang out with the people from the group and that makes me stress out even more since I don’t want to lose friends over this. It isn’t worth it.
I think I am just going to step away from my costuming hobby for a while. I know that it will save me money that I can put towards other things, and maybe reduce the stress.
