I finally found some real Jedi boots at the Ren Faire. Here are some pictures. I will eventually add some straps around them etc, but I got a great deal that I couldn’t pass up. The power of cash is amazing.
Well I am in Texas right now for a wedding that is on Saturday. This is the first time that I have been home in probably 4 years if memory serves right. My house looks pretty darn different. There is new furniture, a 42″ widescreen tv, a DVR, and wood floors. Amazing how things can change when you are gone for a few years.
There are very few people who are still in town here, so I will probably just spend time hanging out around my house when I am not at the wedding activities. The tux is pretty snazzy, so I will post some pictures of me wearing it. Back to watching the shiny tv for now.
Let’s see, I haven’t written anything in here in a while. Let me recap what has gone on. Hopefully it won’t be too long.
My last post was pictures of my Mandalorian that I finished for MTAC. I learned that when I am in costume, I will dance on a dancefloor. I danced so much, that I lost my cape, accidentally stabbed some guy in the arm with the rocket on my gauntlet that broke the tip off, and had one of my knees snap. Gotta love debuting a new costume.
I finished the keyblades for and for them to use at JACON. Orca is going to take some up close pictures of them for me, and then I will post them.
The next big thing that happened was trooping free comic book day which was on May 6th. It was good to see and her husband come out in their Owen and Beru costumes. They look identical to them. It is kind of scary.
Other than that, I have been working on getting things together for the end of this month when I will be in Texas for a wedding, and then the following weekend when I have COSI in Columbus, Ohio. I have been helping Glenn by making an FX Dooku saber by taking apart one of the Master Replicas force FX sabers, and making it fit inside the toy lightsaber. So far it is going pretty well, but there is still quite a bit of work to do. I also need to make some new Jedi boots, finish my Plo Koon lightsaber hilt, get my costume drycleaned, and touch up the paint on my mask and hands.
We are finally getting things for the Corellian base moving forward which includes message boards that are seperate from the RL site, and a basic website while we design something better. It will make it easier to plan out events, and organize merchandise since we have our logo finished etc.
I went to the Ren Fest this last weekend. I had a good time, but spent a little more than I had planned. I got a Sporran to wear with my kilt, and some of the fire sticks. A friend in HS had some that I would play with before orchestra rehearsals, and it is a nice way to pass the time.
If you haven’t started to use it yet, the Google calendar is pretty damn cool. You can add in your friends calendars, invite people to events etc. Check it out. You can add me with the email address deweese @ gmail.com (take out the spaces)
