I broke down and bought the Firefly DVDs. I have been watching them, and so far, I really like them. I was told that I would like it, and people weren’t wrong. I have decided that for the opening of the movie Serenity, that I want to go in costume. I think that it would be fun to dress up as Jayne Cobb. I would be able to carry a big knife and a gun. I might change my mind before then, but I think that he would be a fun character to be. I guess that I could also go as a generic Browncoat, but that is to be decided. It would give me another use for my Hagrid coat, which is never a bad thing since I spent more on it than I would have liked to. I had heard from many people that if Fox would have shown this series correctly in the first place, that it would have lasted, and I think that they are correct. It just seems so wrong to look at the airing dates for the episodes and see just how out of order they were. They really need to go in their intended order. You really need to know the background of the characters in order to be able to follow the story. I think that I have 6 episodes left to watch. Back to the tv.

Friends chip in to help clean. Downstairs looks really good. First thing my mom says to me when she is upstairs, do I scream now or later. I knew that no amount of cleaning would be up to her definition of clean, so I shouldn’t even try but I do. This is gonna be a long weekend. For once, I am glad that I will be at work most of the day.
Thanks to , , , and Chris for your help.
Well it is Thursday at 1:45. My family arrives tomorrow at 9:15 p.m. I took a half a day off tomorrow to make sure that I have everything clean and ready for them to be here. I have done my fair share of cleaning in the past few days. The big thing is the amount of crap cleaning that I have to do. By crap cleaning, I mean vaccuming and dusting and all of that kind of junk. My mom and dad will be getting here tommorrow and then my sister, brother in law and nephew will be here on Saturday. I am not really sure how this will all work, but I guess that I will have to see. At least with the family being here, I will have food in the pantry again. I think it has been 4 months since I have been grocery shopping. Granted, I can’t really get anything perishable due to New York and Alaska very close, but I can at least get a good stock of canned goods and stuff like that. I guess that I will also be ready in case of some sort of natural disaster.
Speaking of NYC, I leave on Thursday morning. I need to get pants hemmed, take stuff and get it dry cleaned, and start to make a list of what I need to pack. I also need to make a list of what stuff that I will need for my cruise. So much to do, so little time.
I went and saw the movie Kingdom of Heaven last night. I thought that it was a great movie. Granted it is a Ridley Scott movie, so I was expecting that I would like it, and I was not dissapointed. There was a good mix of action, story line and character development. There was only one part of the movie that I found to be somewhat predictable, but it is something that was minor unless you were really paying attention. I was also surprised to find out that Edward Norton was in the movie. He played King Baldwin IV, but in the movie the king had on a metal drama style mask the whole time, so you never see his face. I have to say that Orlando Bloom did a good job in what was pretty much his first true leading role. There really weren’t any actors that did a bad job in this one. The movie didn’t really have any humor in it which, is a good thing as it really ruins the mood for some movies.
The thing that I was really confused about throughout the movie was the music. I was listening and I swore that it had to be Hans Zimmer who was the composer. There were parts of it that sounded just like Blackhawk Down and Hannibal but I was wrong. I went and bought the soundtrack at work right when the movie was over, but it was by Harry Gregson-Williams. Danielle found listed on IMDB that Hans Zimmer was the original composer for the movie but Zimmer and Gregson-Williams flopped and Zimmer ended up doing the soundtrack for Madagascar.
I think that this might be one of those movies that I will go see in the theater again, so that I can watch for more of the details, now that I know what will happen, but that is to be determined.
I was looking at my calendar today and realized that it is only 2 weeks until I will be going to the Book Expo America in NYC, and then one week after that, I will be heading to Alaska for my cruise. This year seems to have really gone by fast. It seems like it was ages ago when the cruise was mentioned to me, and yet it is now only around 3 and a half weeks away. The hectic thing will be getting back to my place from NY and then have a day and then pretty much have to switch out suitcases and then fly to Minneapolis and then onto Vancouver. To add to all of this fun, I will have 5 family members here on the weekend of the 27th for the weekend, and they are staying here. So my mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law and nephew will all be here. I am sure that Sirius will go haywire with all of them here and that will be interesting in its own right. The big thing that this means is that I have mucho cleaning to do before they get here. My mom and sister have bad allergies and Sirius likes to leave his hair everywhere. There is also a good bit of bike stuff in the living room. There is really no where else for it to go, so it will be interesting to see how the hide a bed will fold out. In other news, I think that I might have more vacation for the year then I thought that I did. That would be a nice thing so that I can use the days to go camping or do some more day long bike rides. I need to see if that is indeed true, but at least the sense of hope is nice to know. I also have a review coming up at work too, so lots of fun stuff to look forward to.
