Well I guess I should do this too

Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered…whatever you’re comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related (”I’d love a Snape/Hermione icon that’s just for me”) to medium (”I wish for _____ on DVD”) to really big (”All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.”) The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it’s your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here’s the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make someone’s wish come true. Sometimes someone’s trash is another’s treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you won’t use–or even know where you could get someone’s dream purebred Basset Hound for free–do it.

You needn’t spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn’t to put people out, it’s to provide everyone a chance to be someone else’s holiday elf (or fairy) — to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not — it’s your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just…wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you’ll have the joy of knowing you made someone’s holiday special.

Chill Weekend

Well this weekend has been pretty chill for the most part. Saturday was work as usual, except for the fact that I had a backlog of work, so I ended up being there an extra hour and a half to get stuff finished. I am on salary, so I don’t get paid for that time. It sucks being a good employee at times. One of my coworkers Becky who lives one street over called me and was bored, so she came over and joined the regular crew of Danielle, Kim and Chris and we watched Jurassic Park and then Donnie Darko. Yesterday, I had the HP meetup group here and we watched the POA dvd, since I was able to get it early. Good times were had. On Saturday night, Kim made cookies and decorated them in the HP style, and then brownies with a huge lightning bolt on them. I probably should have taken a picture, but I didn’t think about it until now, which is pointless since there pretty much isn’t anything left of any of them.

Since I missed a day off last week, I am able to take it this Wednesday, which means my Thanksgiving break starts when I get off of work today at 5. I normally have Tuesdays off, and we are closed on Turkey day, so I will have a 3 1/2 day break. The one thing that stinks about this is the fact that I have to be at work at 10 on Friday, so I will have to leave ATL hella early in order to get back on time. Last year I didn’t have to be back until 1, so it wasn’t that bad, but it should be fine. I gain an hour on the drive back which makes the time crunch more tolerable. My sister doesn’t have internet anymore, so I need to find someone with dialup that I can borrow while at her house so that I will be able to stay connected to the world, so that it my big challenge before I leave for Atlanta in the middle of the day tomorrow. Well I guess that I should go to work and get this day over with. Cheers.

Cleveland

Well last night I got back from spending Monday through Wed in Cleveland for work. Yesterday we opened up a store in Pittsburgh, so most of the Cleveland staff was up there getting the store ready to be opened, so that left Cleveland shorthanded. Our Inventory manager and I went to help and it was a great trip. I did pretty much work 3 over 12 hour days in a row, but it was ok. The staff there was great and the store was beautiful. I was very jealous of some of the stuff that they have there in terms of organization and presentation of some of the books and merchandise. I didn’t have to pay for anything for the 3 days, so that made it even better. I told the GM there not to hesitate to request for me to come back if they needed more help, because I thought the trip was fun.

I didn’t feel sick at all when I was there, but now as I type this, my nose is stopped up and I have a sinus headache. I guess they have something in the air there that made me better if only for a short while. This Sunday is the HP meetup at my condo, to watch the prisoner of Azkaban DVD that I should be able to get from work either today or tomorrow, even though it doesn’t go on sale until Tuesday. I love little perks like that. I am going into work late today and leaving early due to my long days on the trip, and my lack of one of my days off. I think that it is time to go play some Halo 2, so that I can break the withdrawal symptoms.

Looks pretty correct to me

You Are a Religious Republican

You make up the conservative, Christian, dedicated core of the Republican Party.

You believe it’s important for religious people to stand up for their beliefs in politics.

And for you, this means voting your conscience – which almost always means voting Republican.

Your pet causes include the sanctity of life, school vouchers, and prayer in school.

It is finally over

Well the election is over. Hopefully everyone can relax and not go crazy about supporting their candidate. It was getting to the point at work where tensions were high. I will be honest. There are some people at work to whom I would love to give a hard time to, but I have decided that I am going to refrain from doing that. As both candidates said in their concession/acceptance speeches today, we need to move forward. I talked to a coworker on the phone last night who is another Bush supporter and we were both thinking in the same way about to lay low in political conversations at work. Our workplace has around 8 Bush folks and 30 Kerry supporters. We are the minority, so I am sure that people are going to be in a pissy mood for a while. I do wonder what the reactions of some people at work will be, so I am sure that work will be interesting tomorrow.

In other news, my dad called me today and asked me what I was doing in June. I found out that I will be going on an 11 day Alaskan cruise/train tour across the state. I am very excited about this. I have always wanted to go to Alaska, and this will be a great opportunity. It will be my family and my aunt and two cousins. I need to look into what all the options are available for the side trips etc, so that I will know what to expect.
